The research is part of the project “High Impact Weather in the Arctic” (HIMWARC), which will commence July 2011. HIMWARC aims to extend our fundamental knowledge and concomitantly restrain present levels of uncertainty with respect to future changes of high impact weather in the Arctic. The available modelling framework will comprise simplified linear and non-linear models as well as meso-scale numerical models. Thus the candidates will get the opportunity to learn about, and make use of, a wide variety of numerical models, which are common practice in the field. In addition the candidates will work with observational data, up to date reanalysis products as well as the upcoming IPCC AR5 climate projection datasets.
